A brief-essay about FUNDAMENTAL

%%FUNDA 030701

Fundamentalists are usually people within a faith tradition which is under great stress because of profound changes within their environments. The faith tradition may involve religions, politics, businesses, professional groups, sciences, etc.; in isolation or within an interactive network.

When under profound stress, people within a faith tradition tend to contend with each other about how best to respond to whatever it is that they individually see as the cause of the stress; be it outside in their environment and/or inside --- in how people within the faith tradition have been behaving in non-traditional ways.

Fundamentalists tend to polarize into dichotomous factions who behave in factious, fragmentive, contentious, coercive, and perhaps violent ways. The boundaries between religion, politics, science and culture are often blurred in ways which are not helpful.
