Technical sophistication is the essence of the refinement of conventional education which protects collusions, taboos, and the fears and alienation which are essential to their maintenance. Teachers in liberal education help their students examine the conventional thoughtless assumptions which serve as the foundations for conventional collusions and taboos. This will necessitate the revelation of inconsistencies between articulated and practiced values; i.e., injustices. Collusions and taboos are often defended by denying due process consideration to creative students and teachers who have the courage to challenge them and ask for unbiased examinations of the alienative values and the implications of their defense. Such revolutionaries ask for unbiased evidence of the value of conventionality. Such a request is a violation of the taboos and collusions It is a violation of a collusion or taboo to ask for evidence in defense of the collusion or taboo; for it is their essence to be beyond question and the need for defense. Anybody who suspects that they are in need of defense has already violated their essence, and should be punished in order to protect the conventions. Defense of collusions and taboos tends to be impli- cit, for an explicit defense would involve an admission of the need for defense---an admission which is taboo. Implicit defenses of collusions and taboos tend to focus upon the successes occasioned within the context of the collusions and taboos, and affirmed by participants of those collusions. The focus is upon the successes, with care taken to avoid awareness of the alienation, dishonesty, and injustices which are implicit in those successes. It is the essence of liberal education to promote a charitable awareness of such alienation, dishonesty, and injustices---in order to set at liberty the participation victims of the collusions.
