If there are no objective/quantitative measurements, there is no confirmation, no proof. Some relationships among realities are essentially non-objective and non-quantitative in character. It is absurd to try to confirm/prove a statement of such a relationships in a way which is essentially antithetical to the kind of relationships which is to be confirmed. People who are compulsively dedicated to the objective/quantitative paradigm are incapable of giving fair consideration to non-objective relationships. Relationships which are essentially personal, oriented to persons as subjects, may be confirmed existentially in the life of beings who have integrity. People of integrity are free to be in conversation regarding personal relationships and through dialogue to confirm or discredit personal statements in terms of their own personal experience. If statements do not point clearly and honestly to real aspects of personal living, then there is reasonable doubt that the statements merit much consideration. If the statements do point clearly, honestly and helpfully to real aspects of personal living, then there is good reason to give them careful consideration and respect. Statements about personal relationships can not be proven through objective/quantitative research; except as the relationships are reduced in a reductionistic way to appear to be only objective/quantitative relationships. The process of approaching the relationships can transform the relationships in perception into purely objective/quantitative realities. Such a transformation of perception does not constitute a full transformation of the reality which was approached. Our perceptions are lead by the manner of our approach, by our habits of mind and heart. Realities may remain unchanged by our perceptions. We need to show respect to statements which experienced people offer regarding their personal relationships and their perceptions of their personal relationships---when they are offered with personal integrity; even if without objective/quantitative evidence. If such respect is not shown, people are unlikely to be open and honest about their experiences, conversation is likely to be impoverished, and we are unlikely to be converted from habits of mind and heart which lead us into tragic patterns of behavior.
