Jack has made an ultimate commitment to always be objective and analytic. In case of conflicts among ideals Jack favors being objective and analytic, sacrificing other values and ideals to those to which he has made an ultimate commitment. Jack has no coherent theory of ideals and values in terms of which to relate empirical observations to his ideals. He has no way to study the consequences of his dedication to his ideals. He can not, according to his ideals, have a way of empirically studying the way his dedication to his ideals occasion the consequences they do through trains of spiritual, psychological, social, religious, political, economic, and military events. Jack must be objective and must avoid being aware of the integral ways he is always a participant in his theories, experimental designs, experiments, observations, analyses, publications, requests for funding, and decisions regarding other scientists' employment, retention, promotion and tenure. Jack can be objective and reflect upon his success as an objective scientist only by virtue of participating in scientists' collusive game of mutual self deception. Jack can not with integrity relate himself to the purpose, creation, beginning, meaning, significance, ending, eschatology and history of the universe. Such issues can have not integral place in his objective/analytic paradigm and by the nature of his commitment Jack must work to avoid the integration of such embarrassing issues into his paradigm. Jack can deal with them only as a split personality within dichotomous cultures which are dedicated to complementary ideals. Jack's ideals do not make provision for the integration of the complementary ideals of dichotomous cultures within which he participates. Jack must be objective and analytic; not subjective and integrative. Jack does not have a coherent paradigm within which to participate in an integrative way within the educational, religious, political, economic, labor, managerial, international, security enhancing and other communities. Jack's primary paradigm forces him to participate in a collusion which blocks his potential for integrative participation within those essential communities. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
