The technocratic objectification of our affective, erotic, and sexual relationships is an essential aspect of any technocratic revolution. In the absence of such objectification some of us might, by entering non-objective states of consciousness, gain perspectives which would call into question the ultimate validity of technocrats' exclusively objective perspectives. The risks which do exist for us in such departures from objective states of consciousness may be cultivated to promote fear---by maintaining ambiguity, ignorance, and doubt about the dangers of entering affective, erotic, and sexual states of consciousness. The unknown and the ambiguous dangers are more feared by us than is the well known danger. Thus the inhibition of the free flow of our personal knowledge about affective, erotic, and sexual states of consciousness---will promote the maintenance of exclusively objective states of consciousness. The maintenance of ambiguously enforced taboos---will serve to further the objectification revolution---by promoting fear of uncertain consequences. The objectification revolution may also be served by objective studies of our affective, erotic, and sexual relationships. Such studies may accentuate the risks of engaging in such relationships, and so promote fear in us. In more subtle ways studies which reduce affective, erotic, and sexual relationships to a purely objective plane---will also further the objectification revolution. Such studies will tend to undermine the power of affective, erotic, and sexual relationships---to lift people out of the objective plane of perception. (Some then turn to drugs as an alternative way out!) Reductionism can be used to undermine the perception of mystery and miracle, and so to block awe and worship. By reducing affective, erotic, and sexual relationships to objective activities, the objectification revolutionists can strengthen the collusions of the revolution. The objectification revolution lays the foundations for ultimate "certainty" with regards to affective, erotic, and sexual relationships; facilitating legalistic prescriptions to be enforced in authoritarian ways by people who are too emotionally immature to cope with their own affective, erotic, and sexual instincts, fantasies, visions, desires, acts, and memories. The kind of building which we will be able to build---depends greatly upon what kind of foundation we lay down. We should lay down our foundations with care! (c) 2005 by Paul A.
