Many bullies whose domains are not physical are not recognized as bullies. It will be helpful to become aware of the common aspects of the behavior of bullies of various domains of activity---because there are likely to be some common factors in the most helpful ways to cope with the various types of bullies. The common factors are likely to relate to the common motivation of bullies and their common tendency to push others around. There are varied means which are used by bullies: Personal physical contact, personal threats, verbal oral statements, verbal written statements, non-verbal statements, posturing, eye-contact, facial expressions, body motions, positioning, etc. Bullies do not accept relationships of mutual vulnerability, and in general find it difficult to enter into mutually satisfying relationships. Bullies seek to satisfy their own perceived needs by how they push other people around. They anticipate finding fulfillment in pushing people around. The frustration occasioned by their expectations not being fulfilled tends to aggravate their futile efforts to achieve fulfillment through bullying. They tend to become more competitive and determined to achieve their goal by pushing other people around in one way or another. When granted adequate political and economic power bullies engage in international war and threats of war. They try to push nations around by threats of the use of military and/or economic weapons. The international leaders who occasion such efforts use the international scene as a means to achieving their personal goals of fulfillment through bullying. They seek security for themselves as individuals and for their nations as corporate bodies by means of techniques designed to push people around. As bullies they tend to intensify insecurity.
