When the cost of overt external conflict becomes unacceptably large---we may internalize some or all of the conflict in order to reduce the external level of conflict. One focus of intentionality may be by internalization successfully conceal, sublimate transform, or repress the intentionality which is in conflict with the other. If such internalization does not resolve the conflict the conflict itself becomes internalized --- where it will generate internal anger, frustration, tension, perversions confusion, destruction, and violence---all of which may ultimately find overt expression via direct or indirect means. When internalized conflict is not acknowledged (because of the operation of elusion, delusion or collusion) there is the additional conflict between ostensible appearances and reality---and the possible attempts to deny the reality of that conflict with the sinful consequences of such an alienation from reality. The internalization of unresolved conflict thus undermines communication; promotes excommunication, and so promotes sin. Numerous double binds are occasioned by such unacknowledged internalized unresolved conflict and many forms of violence follow. The reduction of violence in its many forms will depend in significant measure upon our acknowledging internalized conflicts; whether the focus of intentionality is individual persons, small groups, formal or informal organizations, sub-cultures, professions, political parties, cities, counties, states, nations, alliances, or the world as a whole. Conflict concealment tends to accentuate eventual violence. Conflict revelation/resolution tends to reduce violence. Cosmetic relationships which deny the reality of present conflict are usually ultimately violent relation-ships; leading, for example, to familial murders of passion or unexplained murderous rampages by "quiet good men". Maintaining the appearance of harmony and familial good will---can generate high levels of internal conflict which will eventually erupt into overt expressions of violence in some form.
