The collusion and its effectiveness is no stronger than its weakest link; i.e., the person who is least sure of the truths of the collusion. That person may become the traitor which undermines the effectiveness of the collusion and its all-important truths. While collusions are exceedingly powerful, they are also exceedingly brittle. A tiny crack starting anywhere in a collusion can rapidly spread to all parts of the collusion; as cracks can spread through a brittle piece of metal or glass. Collusions are not tough or robust; they are brittle. For this reason participant supporters in collusions are fearful of any sign of lack of certainty, loyalty, commitment, or dedication to the purposes of the collusion in which they are involved. Openness, honesty, candor, close friendships, and intimacy are always suspect. It is illegal for participants in a collusion to say out loud or to write down what the purpose of their collusion is. It is illegal to even hint at the purpose of the collusion. True believers all know without being told. Anybody who even hints at wanting to know what the purpose is --- thereby exposes themselves as not absolutely loyal, and so as a likely traitor to the cause. The primary purpose of a collusion is to maintain appearances which are NOT: open, honest, accurate, clear, responsive, or coherent. In the beginning there may have been some other purpose(s) out of which the primary purpose has evolved for pragmatic reasons. In support of the original very important purpose(s) the participants slowly found it necessary to engage in more and more forms of: dishonesty, deception, misleading appearances, coercion, violence, exclusivity, rejection, excommunication, etc. Ultimately what became of ultimate importance was playing the collusive game of mutual self deception --- according to which the whole process has always promoted personal and communal integrity. Maintaining that appearance has become the ultimate concern of the participants. It is their idol, their god. They are idolaters through and through. The above collusive processes have evolved within and between: NATION-STATES RELIGIOUS-ORGANIZATIONS CHURCH-STATES RELIGIOUS-INSTITUTIONS BUSINESS-STATES MULTI-NATIONAL-ORGANIZATIONS TECHNOCRATIC-STATES PROFESSIONAL-ORGANIZATIONS FAMILY-STATES SCIENTIFIC-SOCIETIES The more power that is concentrated within any collective of unquestionably loyal people --- the more likely it is that the above process will be illustrated in tragic ways. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
