Healthy acceptance is confused by pervasive patterns of conditional acceptance which is manipulative, coercive, violent, and so alienative. Religious communities which practice formal and/or informal patterns of excommunication, shunning and disfellowshipping --- in attempts to coerce members into conformity --- thereby contribute much to --- alienative confusion regarding healthy acceptance and what constitutes the good news of their religious community. Often the good news of the gospel has become converted and perverted into pervasive patterns of conditional acceptance which are manipulative, coercive, violent, and so alienative---rather than forgiving, reconciling and integrative. The New Testament is ignored in favor of the preoccupations of the Old Testament. Legalistic injunctions and judgmentalism have often replaced gracious forgiveness and honest reconciliation. In such confusion about the nature of true acceptance, chaos reigns supreme, and both personal and communal integrities are undermined. Often this is done in the name of the supreme non-conformist who by his birth, life, teachings, death and renewal revealed how impotent (rather than important) all laws are in the face of alienation and disintegration. We need the clarity of clear role-models and simple articulations which demonstrate the power of truly unconditional mutual acceptance---to transcend the disintegrative patterns of mutual self; deception, manipulation, coercion, violence and alienation. Unconditional mutual acceptance does not include tolerance of and/or respect for: dishonesty, deception, coercive and violent manipulations; alienation, indolence, injustice, meanness, judgmentalism, excommunications, disfellowshipping, arrogance, self-justification, or other such alienative --- patterns and all that goes with them. Unconditional mutual acceptance affirms the ultimate importance of keeping the channels of communication as open as is possible within the limits of being human. Unconditional mutual acceptance affirms the ultimate importance of working to promote the integrity of the whole family of God who was, is and ever shall be the central focus of: creation, conception, birth, rebirth, truth, love, reconciliation and integrity for all creatures.
