Typing them has been, and continues to be, a process of being true to myself; a process of self clarification within a context of confusion in an addictive society. There has been and there is no intended audience in the typing of these essays; they are typed for myself. Others may read them. They are not typed for others, to reach others, or to influence others. The typing of these essays is not guided by any standards of form, or to meet any publication guidelines. The essays need not conform to any standards for publication; for they are typed for myself. I type the essays. I do not work to compose the essays. When the time comes to type an essay I type it, and discover what it says as I type it, often as fast as I can type. At a later date, I correct spelling errors, fix awkward word combinations and scatter some punctuation marks to make the essays more readable. My efforts to significantly re-write essays have never really been satisfying to me, and so I have rarely attempted such efforts. The essays point to some truths, but it may not be helpful to be concerned with whether or not the statements themselves are true or not. Often the truths to which the essays point have been disturbing truths, and it has been hard to bring myself to type out what has come to me. Many of the thoughts which have come to me have appeared at first glance to be unthinkable, un-typeable, un-shareable. In typing them, I have started to come to terms with them, and eventually have become free to share them. The new combinations of words which have come to me, come to me as pointers to new combinations of old ideas, concepts, perceptions, feelings, etc. By playing with old elements in new ways and combinations, new insights have come to me, and I have typed words which point to the new insights. New insights have evolved. Later essays cast new light on early essays which remain as originally typed with only minor editorial clarifications. New perspectives cast old insights in a new light where they can be seen more clearly. The hypertext format of presenting the essays was implicit in even the very earliest typing of essays; but it took a computer revolution to provide the technical tools by which to present linkages between essays. There is no right way or order in which to read the essays. There are countless orders and ways in which to read the essays, as there are countless people who may choose to read them to satisfy their own interests. The hypertext format opens up the possibility of finding relevant text in countless different ways. The way to use the hypertext format is up to the reader. Those who truly seek the truth find it, and in their honest seeking they become free to be true to themselves, and truly become themselves, with personal and communal integrity.
