His reflexive fears, hopes, desires, expectations, interpersonal understandings, self-referential understandings, etc. thus dominate his attitude towards the future. The future is not objectively real. The future as an object of Jack's attention is what it is to Jack because of very reflexive realities within Jack and because of his pattern of personal relationships which are also reflexive in nature. If Jack has not learned from formal training and role models how to deal with reflexive realities, Jack is not prepared to deal with the future which is dominated by reflexive realities. The future exists only in people's imaginations, anticipations and fears; etc. So long as the future remains the future, it is not an objective reality and can not be studied scientifically. The present is an eternal now about which there can be no objective agreement, because there can be no confirmation of the agreement about the eternal now within the eternal now. As soon as there is confirmation of agreement, the confirmation is about a past event or reality. Thus there can be no scientific consensus about the eternal now. Scientific analysis always focuses upon past events. When scientists deal with future events they are dealing with a future which is real only in the reflexive domain of personal anticipations. There can be no scientific agreement about the reality of the future, but there may be some reflexive agreement about the nature of the scientific predictions and the attitudes about the predictions. The future is confused with peoples' past predictions and their attitudes relating the anticipated future. Universal agreement about an anticipated future does not make that future into an objective reality, because about such a future there can be no confirmation of its reality until the events are past and there can be retrospective agreement about such events after the fact.
