For this reason there are taboos against publicly sharing sexual experiences. These taboos are consistent with traditional taboos against publicly engaging in sexual relationships. It would be risky to permit people to publicly share their sexual experiences when such sharing might itself occasion embarrassing public sexual relationships. For this reason sexual communication about sexual experiences is inhibited. In what context is it permitted to share sexual experiences? There are taboos against group sexual experiences---and so against sharing sexual experiences in the context of a group. Thus it is taboo to share sexual experiences in a formal or informal classroom setting. Sexual experiences may not be shared in schools. What about within the context of the family? There are taboos against sexual relationships between parents and their children, and against sexual relationships between siblings. Thus there are taboos against sharing sexual experiences within the context of the family---for such sharing might lead to additional sexual experiences and active sexual relationships between members of the family. Taboos inhibit communication about sexual experiences in the context of the family. What about sharing sexual experiences in the context of courtship. Some people feel a responsibility to excommunicate anybody who engages in significant sexual relationships before being issued a sex permit at a wedding ceremony. There are taboos against pre-marital sexual experiences, and so against pre-marital sharing of sexual experiences in the context of courtship. Such sharing might lead to significant sexual relationships before the issuance of the sex permit at the marriage ceremony. There is no context in which it is "proper" to share sexual experiences---except between sexually ignorant or self-taught married couples who are too inhibited to know each other sexually. The taboos do not make sense. Would a God of Love be the source of such taboos? (c) 2005 by Paul A.
