That which is obvious does not need to be stated. Educators take for granted that their students are to be educated individually and certified individually. People are fundamentally individuals, and only secondarily are they members of any community. You do not educate a community; you educate the individual members of a community. Thus educational programs are designed to affirm the preconception that people are essentially individuals. Thus educational programs through their operation tend to fragment communities by neglecting to affirm communal bonds while affirming individualistic preconceptions. Once individualization is taken for granted within an educational program---it is necessary to facilitate the harmonious interaction of the separated individuals. Friction between individuals must be reduced by lubrication. Lubrication is the process of preventing bonding between elements which pass each other. Lubrication places blockages to communication between the passing elements so that they will not bond, break, bond, break, bond, break, etc. Lubrication prevents union of adjacent elements and lets the elements slide past each other without bonding and resisting separation. Given individualization and lubrication it is important to help students adjust to their fluid situation in which there are no stable relationships between individuals. Thus education often focuses upon learning how to adjust to existing situation, how to get along. Education will affirm traditions, conventions, conformity, etc. to help individuals move smoothly through their lives with a minimum of friction and with a minimum of disturbance to the society through which they move. Education serves the purpose of minimizing conflict, tension, change, etc. It appears to facilitate change by promoting frictionless motion of individuals past each other without bonding.
