Religious institutions have demonstrated relatively little interest in being committed to facilitating and promoting both personal-integrity and communal-integrity; e.g., through facilitating and promoting the development of healthy patterns of intimacy, authenticity and sexuality in young people through the years of adolescence. The building of and maintenance of communal sanctuaries within which people exchange free gifts of the freedom to be safely vulnerable is rarely a characteristic activity for mainline religious institutions. Such sanctuaries need not be buildings or geographic locations. They may be networks of human relationships not tied to buildings or geographic locations. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
