Agree that it is desirable to focus upon statements which are positive --- making affirmations --- while seeking to avoid negative statements, and behaviors which are contentious. 2. Have a meeting "moderator" or "chairperson" to recognize members of the meeting to rise and make only statements which are positive, affirmations; for the consideration of the other members of the meeting. 3. Allow each speaker to continue speaking for up to five minutes, so long as the speaker --- in the view of a majority of the members in the meeting --- has not made more than three negative statements and/or acted in ways which are contentious. 4. Have each member of the meeting hold up a red card so that the moderator can see it when in each member's view the current speaker has made three or more (negative statements and/or acted in contentious ways). 5. When a speaker has spoken for five minutes or when half of the participants in the meeting have lifted their red cards; the moderator shall ask the speaker to sit down and be quiet. 6. Participants shall not defend or argue over their votes. 7. After one hour participants shall similarly take turns telling each other what three affirmations were their favorites; until all have done so a first time around. 8. On the completion of the first time around, the participants shall repeat the process, but tell only what two affirmations were their favorites; until all have done so a second time around. 9. On a third time around participants shall tell just one favorite affirmation. 10. Finally participants shall discuss what they have learned from the overall process. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
