People who are involved in unarticulated conflicts have not yet found positive ways to articulate what they affirm --- without getting dragged down into denying what they do not understand about each other's affirmations. Some rare people are wise and able to cooperate in resolving unarticulated conflicts in creative ways which promote both personal and communal integrity. Many common people are clue-less about such conflict-resolution ---and cannot recognize, name, describe or respect people who are skilled in the cooperative resolution of unarticulated conflicts. Unarticulated conflicts often entail conflicts between unarticulated: IDEAS IDEALS VALUES PRINCIPLES GOALS DESIRES WISHES ASPIRATIONS NEEDS FEARS HOPES ANXIETIES WISDOM INSTINCTS ASPIRATIONS ASSUMPTIONS BELIEFS CONVICTIONS DEDICATIONS LOYALTIES DUTIES COMMITMENTS OBLIGATIONS IMPERATIVES People who are the incarnations of such unarticulated conflicts naturally fall into conflict with each other in ways which they do not mutually recognize, name, describe or understand --- for they do not mutually recognize, name, describe or understand that which each is affirming. They often perceive each other primarily as threats to what they themselves are seeking to affirm and fulfill. Thus they form mutually exclusive groups which are dedicated to the fearful defense of some common core of foci which members of each exclusive groups believe that they share in common. Their purposes are defensive --- because they are insecure when confronted with the possibilities of enjoying security known as the freedom to be safely vulnerable within intimate relationships with people who are "different". Unarticulated conflicts may be associated with scriptures, rituals, traditions, loyalties, commitments, and obligations which are articulated --- but for which the full implications are not well articulated in mutually agreed upon ways. Different people may understand the implications in complementary and/or contrasting ways --- which are apparently in conflict with each other. Unarticulated conflicts may revolve around unarticulated IMPLICATIONS of scriptures, rituals, traditions, loyalties, commitments, and obligations which are articulated. The people who are embroiled in the unarticulated conflicts may find it impossible to believe that their dilemmas are rooted in incomplete articulations which lead them into mutual misunderstandings, confusions, and prejudices. So they seek technocratic solutions which will successfully dominate people on the other sides of their tragic conflicts. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
