Jack wants Jill to want to be sexually intimate with
him, or at least go through the motions of being sexually
intimate with him. Jill is not so inclined ---for one or
more of the following reasons:
1. She does not find Jack sexually attractive.
2. Jack is not emotionally open with her.
3. Jack always seems to want to be in control.
4. Jack is not generally open and honest.
5. Jack is often not considerate and reliable.
6. Jack wants her to compensate for his lacks.
7. She does not want to become sexually active yet.
8. She fears that Jack will take advantage of her.
9. She suspects that Jack has ulterior motives.
10. Parents want too much for her to marry Jack.
Each of Jill's reasons is reflexive in nature, not
essentially objective in nature. The reasons entail
essentially reflexive judgements on Jill's part, even if
there are some objective aspects to what she is responding
to. None of Jill's reasons are grounded in external
prescriptions, proscriptions and/or taboos. Jill is not
much concerned with external prescriptions, proscriptions
and/or taboos. Jill is concerned with being involved in
integrative relationships which are open, honest, mutual,
balanced and likely to promote both personal and communal
integrity. Jill's authentic reasons for not wanting to
be sexually intimate with Jack threaten many people who
are primarily concerned with imposing external
prescriptions, proscriptions and/or taboos.
