Participant within relationship. 2. Observer of participant. 3. Describer, articulator, scribe, reporter. 4. Interpreter, rationalizer, judge, condemner. Each person who is involved in any way in human relationships may at any one moment play one or more of the many roles---with more or less personal integrity, and with more or less integrative cross-overs between roles. When there are many people involved in a web of human relationships it is possible for each of them to be involved in a variety of ways---which differ as regards the integrity with which they are involved---in various degrees---in playing the various possible roles--- simultaneously or sequentially---during different periods of the evolving pattern of the web of relationships. These considerations pertain in various ways to relationships which are: formal or informal, intimate or alienative, objective or reflexive, cooperative or competitive, sexual or a-sexual, honest or dishonest, healthy or diseased, etc. (c) 2005 by Paul A. Smith in (On Being Yourself, Whole and Healthy) ==========================================================
