How are we to be peacemakers? By focusing upon what ideals, values, principles, ideas, paradigm? Macho militaristic men for countless centuries have focused upon trying to be in control. The consequence has been the slaughter of countless millions of women and children who just happened to be in the way of their collusive games of mutual self deception. Self righteous religious men for countless centuries have focused arrogantly upon their own righteousness and their duty to get others to conform to their chosen way of perceiving and responding. The consequence has been the violent subjugation of countless millions of women and children who just happened to be in the way of their collusive games of mutual self deception. Self confident technocrats for countless centuries have focused in certain ways upon improving techniques for understanding, manipulating and controlling: inanimate objects, sub-human creatures, inferior humans, imperfect humans, misguided humans, confused humans, and evil humans. The consequence has been the escalation of the level of violence which has disintegrated the lives of men, women and children who just happened to be in the way of their collusive games of mutual self deception. If we are to be peacemakers we must recognize, name, describe and talk openly and publicly about the above patterns of disintegrative manipulation, coercion and violence---and trace those patterns to their roots in disintegrative "high" ideals, values, principles and paradigms which continue to be respected in spite of all that they have lead humans into.
