To think, believe and/or feel otherwise will lead us into the tragic traps of false pride, low self esteem, and personal rejection. If we think, believe and feel that our salvation and redemption depend upon our best achievements, successes conformities and fulfillments of expectations; then we falsely expect that we can put ourselves in the position to control those who are prone to reject us. There is no way in which we can control those who are prone to reject us. We cannot be healthy so long as we try to find ways to control those people who are prone to reject us. We are tragically mislead if we think, believe or feel otherwise. We cannot control those who are prone to reject us by our pointing to our achievements, successes, conformities or fulfillments of expectations---for people who are prone to reject us have it in their power to resist all of our efforts to control them. We cannot control them through our merits, goodness, or perfection. Attempting to do so leads to tragedies. People who are prone to reject us regard alienation as an acceptable tool for use in personal manipulations; and they are more prone to accept alienative tools of manipulation, than they are prone to accept healthy people. In their self righteousness they resort to rejections, excommunications, banishments, disfellowshipping and other attacks upon peoples' integrity as means of personal manipulation. They believe that they can control other people by such means, and thereby achieve their own salvation. We will be fools if we join them in such a belief. We will be fools if we try to control them in ways similar to how they try to control us. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
