It is not very effective for a large fraction of the members of a community to struggle each in isolation over dilemmas and problems which they experience as unique to themselves---but which are rooted in systemic aspects of the community, such as: 1. Disintegrative ideals and values. 2. Systemic addictions and codependencies. 3. Institutionalized prejudice/discrimination. 4. Corrupt political institutions. 5. Corrupt religious leadership. 6. Scientists addicted to pure research. 7. Self-serving professions. 8. Systemic sex discrimination. 9. Systemic repression of discussion of sexuality. 10. Unchallenged collusions. 11. Compulsive objectivity and quantification. 12. Thoughtless dedication to endless growth. 13. Dishonesty about limited resources/possibilities. 14. Dishonesty about disease, mortality & death. 15. Dishonesty about mistakes, errors, failures. 16. Requirements of appearance of conformity. 17. Legalized injustices. 18. Communal neglect of children's welfare/health. 19. Grossly unbalanced distribution of wealth. 20. Violations of personal integrity. Systemic dilemmas and problems cannot be recognized if the individual members of a community do not feel free to communicate honestly with each other, including relative strangers, what they are experiencing. Systemic dilemmas and problems cannot be recognized if the community is trapped in the pattern of blaming individuals for all their individual problems and dilemmas; regarding them as individualistic punishment for previous individualistic sins. Systemic dilemmas and problems cannot be recognized if the community does not overtly affirm that such systemic realities probably do exist within the community, and its leaders seek to publicly identify what the most debilitating systemic realities are.
