A false messiah does not confront others with the truth which exposes their games of self deception; but rather participates in collusive games of self deception in attempts to appear to be full of power and grace. It is dangerous to believe that any person can be perfect; for then there is the temptation to try to be a perfect person. Perfectionists are always trying to perfect their conception of what it is to be perfect; and so they are always failing to catch up with their image of perfection, and so falling in self esteem. A false messiah may be willing to try to perfect such perfectionists, and become trapped in their games of mutual self deception. Each person needs to be true to the truth about themselves; to escape from collusive games of mutual self deception by being true to themselves, facing the truths about themselves. No messiah can force us to be true to ourself. Only a false messiah tries to do for us what we must do for ourself in being true to ourself. When we are being true to our own self we are not trying to perfect our self according to any external standard of perfection. We do not seek to discover or create such a standard. We do not seek to conform to or be conformed to any such standard. We do not seek to conform others or get them to conform to any such standard of perfection. We are simply content in being honest about our own self and enjoy peace and tranquility in being who we are. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
