     A  moralistic  machine  is  a  person  who  has  been
programmed to react like a computer to specific situations
in   specified   ways  without  appropriate   regard   and
sensitivity to unique personal feelings,  desires,  fears,
etc.

     To  a  moralistic  machine  each  situation  can   be
characterized  as falling into a  specific  classification
which calls for a specified reaction.  Moralistic machines
fall  into  the trap represented by the  doctrine  of  the
great  fall of mankind,  wherein mankind learned from  the
tree  of  the  knowledge  of good and  evil  how  to  pass
judgments  and  to reject those who are  fallen---so  that
they will fall into the torments of the hell of rejection.

     Moralistic  machines do not participate  in  intimate
human relationships with authentic uniqueness.  Moralistic
machines  are  programmed  to react in  specific  ways  to
situations    which   are   fit   into   the    moralistic
classification scheme. Often the fit is not exact, but the
demands    of   the   moralistic   system   are   exacting
nevertheless. For each classification which is assigned to
a  situation  there  is  an exact demand as  to  what  the
reaction  to  the situation should be;  else rejection  is
prescribed for the moralistic machine which does not react
properly.   Machines  which do not react properly  to  re-
programming  are rejected out of hand,  and become out-of-
touch  because of the rejection process.  Affection is not
prescribed  as a proper reaction to a failure  to  fulfill
