As a community makes acceptance of members of the community into communal dialogue to be conditional upon conformity to some communal expectations, the community is setting the stage for the drama of its own disintegration. The key to Pandora's Box of disintegrative processes lies in the exclusion of nonconformists from communal dialogue as a punishment for their failure to fulfill some communal expectations. The key opens Pandora's Box regardless of how good and proper the expectations may be. Rejection of nonconformists from dialogue in response to their failures to fulfill expectations leads to the embarrassment of their internal reflexive honesty. People's concerns can be shifted from seeking to be true to themselves, to seeking to conform to other people's expectations of them. People desperately need to be accepted, and will do violence to their own integrity in efforts to achieve acceptance. If such efforts include being untrue to their own experiences and perceptions, then Pandora's Box has been opened; and both personal and communal integrity will disintegrate in the face of all the evil processes which flow from Pandora's Box. Dishonesty is the heart of evil processes, just as honesty is the heart of the processes of true Love. Evil processes promote dishonesty. The processes of Love work to create communal contexts in which people are free to be open and honest with each other about their own experiences and perceptions. In evil processes people seek to control each other to get each other to conform to some pattern of behavior which is regarded as being good. Such attempts to control people generate patterns of misleading behavior which lead towards total dishonesty in defensive relationships which have been disintegrated by sophisticated attempts to achieve security through the use of manipulative techniques. People within the processes of Love seek to free each other to be true to their own experiences of what is true, and likely to encourage others to be true to what is true. In true Love people lead each other towards total honesty in intimate relationships freed from defensiveness by gifts of security. People who are insecure cannot be honestly objective about their own experiences of the world as a whole. People who are insecure play games of mutual self deception about their own experiences of what is most important to them; shifting attention away from their own experiences of what is true and important to them, to specialized impersonal experiences about which some limited honesty is permitted. Insecurity leads to narrow specialization in impersonal parts of the whole; and so to disintegration. Thus personal insecurity encourages the development of the global technocratic community in an arms race with itself, in a futile effort to achieve local security in a defensive world.
