How Jack's friends regard Jack flows from both Jack's action and from what his friends are like. As they reflect upon Jack's actions, Jack may reflect upon the way in which his friends' behaviors reflect upon how they reflect upon his actions. Jack may regard the actions of his friends as strange, hard to understand, maybe not trustworthy. As Jack reflects upon his friends' behaviors in response to his actions, Jack is engaged in reflexive behavior; i.e., considerations pointing back to himself. Jack's friends may become aware of Jack's reflexive considerations which cast doubt upon the worth of their friendship. As they consider whether or not to respect Jack's considerations, they themselves engage in thoughts which have to do with whether or not their judgments and attitudes toward Jack are justified. Thus they become engaged in reflexive considerations which point back toward themselves. Virtually all human interactions involves continual reconsideration of the question of whether or not to continue to be responsive to communications of specific other persons. Each person's judgments which flow from such considerations are ultimately reflexive, pointing back to the person making the judgment, as much as referring to the other persons who have been involved in the interactions. Such reflexive considerations often involve responses to responses many times over in very brief periods of time. Often the whole stream of responses are entirely non-verbal and do not entail conscious verbal thought. Such a sequence of responses is not under the control of consciously directed thought; thus it is not an expression of the logic of verbally articulated ideals, values, principles, etc. Multiple reflexive considerations flow under the direction of promptings which are not necessarily logical, reasonable, principled, or formal in character. For such considerations to be integrative in character, they must occur within contexts which are perversely integrative in character, rather than perversely disintegrative in character.
