Until he reversed questioning about the behavior of objects progress was impossible in understanding how and why objects move and stop. It may be that we are trapped in asking the wrong questions regarding how people behave. We often ask why people do not behave properly. Why do people fail to do what is so obviously the right thing to do? Why do people commit evil acts? Why do people sin? Why are there evil people in the world? What would be the reverse questions? Why do people conform? What leads people to pattern their behavior according to how other people would have them behave, even when doing so undermines their own personal integrity, and thus undermines the communal integrity? Why do people internalize programs for conformed behavior which can not be integrated into their own essential being? Such internalization of disintegrative programs leads to the disintegrative behaviors which motivate attempts to program people to behave properly. How can we avoid internalization of disintegrative programs for conformal behavior? What can lead us to the ways of integrative behavior which flow from coherent personal conceptions of what makes for both personal and communal integrity? Perhaps new questions which are based upon radically new presuppositions may lead us into new avenues of integrative research, as did Newton's new questions regarding why objects accelerate and stop. In the culture of his day Newton's new questions made no sense. His answers to his senseless questions made less sense, until by their fruits it became clear that his new way of regarding the behavior of objects was fruitful in a delightful way which was very practical. Pray that we may find ways to ask new questions which will lead the way to both personal and communal integrity. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
