A male dominated teaching profession is likely to project failures of the teaching profession upon external circumstances; e.g., low quality students. The cure for the problems of such a teaching profession is obviously higher quality students; i.e., the responsibility of the Admission Department. Perhaps the Counseling Department should be doing a better job. Sex stereotyping has females "accepting blame", and males regarding "accepting blame" as a feminine trait; something which is not " manly". Perhaps male dominated teaching professions will not become better teaching professions until more females enter the professions with a willingness to "accept the blame" for the inadequacies of the profession. It is unlikely that the sex stereotyping will be transcended very quickly; so it may be necessary to balance male dominated teaching professions with females---in order to achieve a better balance regarding the location of responsibility and blame. Female science teachers might help male scientists internalize a greater sense of responsibility for science students' learning difficulties. Females have been stereotyped to be more sensitive to affective messages, emotions, etc. They may be able to help males become more aware of what their students' personal experiences mean to their ability to learn science.
