To the extent that any personal virtues are idolized personal integrity within the society is violated and the society is fragmented in a manner in keeping with the society's idolatry. A society can not be liberated nor its individual members liberated by diversity of individual fulfillment of idolized self-images, even though such, diversity through collusion be regarded as a liberating technique. The technocratic society is the victim of the idolization of the technically competent self. The society is fragmented by the affective insensitivity of and the manipulative activities of the technocrats who dominate political decisions and action. The tradition-bound society is the victim of the idolization of the well-adjusted self. The fragmentation is concealed in the individual repressions of creativity and new possibilities of personal fulfillment. The revolutionary society is the victim of the idolization of the iconoclast and his fragmenting affirmation of un-realizable new ideals. The idolization of the "good" self leads to the fragmentation of the society through the alienation generated by the use of maintained standards of good and evil. The idolization of honesty leads to fragmentation through injury of selves toward whom others were insensitive, yet honest. When the thoroughly self-consistent self is idolized the society is fragmented through the replacement of genuine personal desires by externally programmed behavior patterns. When the intellectual self is idolized the society becomes fragmented through the operation in inadequate.theories of human nature as created by individuals who do not recognize their own intellectual limitations. When the thoroughly objective self, is idolized the society is fragmented by the division of self into unrelated objective parts and subjective consciousness, body and mind, body and soul, body and spirit, or a similar dichotomy.
