     Is  seeking to facilitate the maintenance of personal
integrity  in  a  fragmented society  ---   by  continuing
extensive leadership in the following domains:  county and
state  politics,  theological and philosophical  analysis,
physics    teaching,    educational   reform,     computer
programming,  religious education,  honest description  of
the technocratic society and its natural consequences.

     Born  in Colombia,  South America,  to  the  son of a
Presbyterian minister serving as a evangelical missionary;
married  in  Auke  Bay,   Alaska  to  the  daughter  of  a
Presbyterian  minister  serving  on  the  national mission
field.

     Attended  junior  high  school  and  high  school  in
Geneseo,  Illinois; A.B.  with double majors in philosophy
and physics from Park College,  Parkville, Missouri;  A.M.
in  Physics  from  Washington University  in  St.   Louis,
Missouri;   Ph.D.   in  Physics from Tufts  University  in
Medford,    Massachusetts.    Specialized  in   elementary
particle  physics  using nuclear emulsion  technique  with
analysis by extensive computer programs making use of  MIT
Computer Facilities for the hyperfragment lifetime study.

     Did  informal  research on heavy radioactive  fallout
while  at  Washington  University in  1956-1959   and  was
involved  in  the organization of the St.  Louis Committee
for   Nuclear   Information.    While   in   the   Boston,
Massachusetts area 1959-1964 was a member of First Church,
Congregational   of  Cambridge,   served  on  its   Social
Responsibility  Committee,   and  was active in  both  the
lunch-counter-boycott    movement   and    the    anti-war
demonstrations,   serving as march captain on a walk  from
Boston to Groton, Connecticut.

     Served as assistant professor,  associate  professor,
professor,   and 1999  Chairman of the Coe College Physics
Department 1964-1979;  serving  also terms as Chairman  of
the standing committees on Computer,  Library, and Teacher
Education;  Chairman of  the  KCOE-FM Broadcast  Board  of
Directors; member of the 1969 Coe Summer Study Committee.

     Served  as  Vice Chairman and Chairman of a Christian
Education Committee and as leader of an adult study  group
in local churches.

     Served as Chairman of the  County Chapter of the Iowa
Democratic Conference and on the State Executive Committee
of the IDC during its active years.

     Attended  numerous  county,   district,   and   state
conventions  of  the  Democratic  Party  of  Iowa  serving
therein on Platform Committee, Rules Committees,  as Chief
Teller,  as Parliamentarian, and also as Secretary to: the
State  Party  Reform  Committee,   Constitution   Revision
Committees,  Convention Rules Committees, Iowa  Democratic
Party   State  Central  Committee,   and  to   state-level
committees  developing new procedures for prioritizing the
Party Platform.

     Served  as  Vice-Chairman of the  Technical  Advisory
Committee on Transit Study in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

     Served twelve years as-the Iowa representative on the
National Council  of  the American  Association of Physics
Teachers  after  having served as  Iowa  Section Chairman.
Served  on  the Social Implications Committee of the  Iowa
Academy of Science.  Also has been a member of AAAS, AAUP,
SSRS, FAS, Sigma Xi.
