Things be approached and responded to their way. 2. People be approached and responded to their way. 3. Only either/or: questions, responses and affirmations --- be regarded as acceptable, worthy of respect, and/or support. 4. Power, respect and money be concentrated into the hands of a few people --- those whom they respect, honor and support; e.g., themselves. 5. Affirmations, ideas, ideals, values and principles which are complementary (apparently contradictory to their own --- be ignored, criticized, denigrated, repressed, etc. 6. Paradoxes be responded to by the full and unqualified affirmation of partial truths --- and by the denial of other truths which are complementary to a few fully affirmed "absolute" truths. 7. Their insecurity and defensive postures be honored, respected, and left as they are. 8. Their chosen/traditional positions and conflicts be honored, respected, and supported. The problem is rarely in what people affirm; it is often in what people demand that other people MUST affirm and/or deny. Coerced affirmations are problematic. Some people believe that other people must be coerced into doing what is good, proper, right, righteous, etc. Such people through coercion engender many EVIL RELATIONSHIPS which entail: resentment, anger, dishonesty, secrecy, misrepresentations, false- appearances, pretense, conflict, contentiousness, addictions, and collusive games of mutual self deception. Very little, if any, good comes through coerced affirmations. (c) 2005 by Paul A. Smith in (On Being Yourself, Whole and Healthy) ==========================================================
