Large institutions often appeal to and attract the leadership skills of people who are preoccupied with issues of control --- in the manner of addicts and their codependent supporters. This is often so even if the religious institutions represent revolutionary prophets whose lives embody: liberation, healing, servanthood, honesty, inclusivity, gentleness, personal integrity and communal integrity. It is very difficult for large religious institutions to avoid the temptations of heresies, revisionism, and refinements of their messages --- so that eventually the messages match the dispositions of people who are preoccupied with issues of control --- in the manner of addicts and their codependent supporters. It is difficult for large religious institutions to exclude with integrity from their memberships all potential leaders who are preoccupied with issues of control --- in the manner of addicts and their codependent supporters. This is especially the case if the religious institutions represent revolutionary prophets whose lives embody; liberation, healing, servanthood, honesty, inclusivity, gentleness, personal integrity and communal integrity. Thus it is essential for large religious institutions to institutionalize the awareness of what is pointed to by the above, so as to empower the participants in the large religious institutions to transcend the risks which large religious institutions present to the participants; risks of becoming enmeshed within addictive organizations which are dominated by persons in leadership who are preoccupied with issues of control --- in the manner of addicts and their codependent supporters.
