There are many kinds of differences which underlie conflicts --- differences pertaining to: 1. Inherited individual genetic differences which are manifested in terms of differences in individuals': personal attributes, dispositions, characters, needs, desires, inclinations, fears, limitations, etc. 2. Personal histories of different individuals': experiences, nurture, training, education, work, achievements, injuries, diseases, etc. 3. Relationships' histories in regards to: pairs of individuals, families, small groups, informal organizations, and formal organizations such as: schools, churches, fraternal societies, villages, cities, counties, states and nations. 4. Assumptions, attitudes, beliefs, convictions, perceptions, doctrines, scriptures, ideas, ideals, values, principles, rituals, etc. --- which are complementary, conflicting, shared, fought over, repressed, articulated, synthesized, etc. 5. Environmental differences relating to geography, climate, resources, catastrophes, weather, and changes therein---which vary from time to time and place to place. 6. Accumulations of knowledge, information, skills, technologies, tools, descriptions, processes, products, infra-structures, financial resources: garbage, resentments, anger, desires for revenge, etc. 7. Diseases, injuries, confusions, mis-information, prejudices, collusions, addictions, etc. --- which undermine competencies, communication, dialogue, learning, memories, and cooperation. If various kinds of differences are not discerned, recognized, named, described, and talked about --- we will be unable to resolve conflicts wisely/creatively. We often differ as to how we go about the essential procedures: intuitively, systematically; formally, in- formally; tacitly, explicitly; individually, cooperat- ively; qualitatively, quantitatively; symbolically, practically; etc. We will do well and be well when we find/share cooperative ways to integrate in wise/creative ways our complementary contributions to personal and communal integrity.
