Emotional considerations are often ignored. Young people often recognize that such education is not honest, healthy or helpful --- and make fun of the instructors behind their backs. Qualified instructors in formal sex education will usually be older and/or more powerful than their students. This heightens the possibility of the abuse of their power in sex education which does not carefully avoid generating any sexual interest or arousal. The dangers of abuse of power are greatest when there is one-on-one sex education, or one-on-very-few sex education. However, the larger is the group in the sex education program --- the more likely it is that issues which are likely to generate sexual interest and/or arousal --- will be totally avoided.
