People are preoccupied with issues of control in human relationships which are dominated by considerations of rules, regulations and commandments. People show indifference to occasions of alienation, estrangement, condemnation and excommunication---associated with focusing much upon rules, regulations and commandments. Preoccupations with rules, regulations and commandments lead people to talk at each other rather than to visit with each other---spending as much time actively listening as actively thinking what to say next to "score points." Preoccupations with one's own dominant ideals and values lead to negativistic negations of other people's transcendent ideals and values. Competitive people seek to take advantage of other people's points of vulnerability---outside of mutually agreed to recreational games which are played joyfully in the light of clearly/honestly articulated and agreed to purposes and protections against abuse. Human relationships are dominated by collusive games of mutual self deception entailing dishonest manipulations of each other and of truths about the inter-personal relationships among those who are thereby affected. People fail to engage in the mutual exchange of gifts of true security known as the freedom to be safely vulnerable within open-and-honest intimate- relationships. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
