Such people do not appreciate or accept paradoxes wherein two or more important truths and/or values seem to be in conflict with each other. Such people tend to perceive and think in terms of: 1. One or the other 2. Contradiction or agreement 3. Competition or cooperation 4. Independence or subservience 5. Obedience or disobedience 6. Conforming or rebelling 7. Leader or follower 8. Community or individual 9. Win or lose 10. Exclusive or inclusive 11. Friend or enemy 12. Lawful or illegal 13. Moral or immoral 14. Saved or dammed 15. Good or evil 16. Faithful or un-faithful 19. Right or wrong People who are preoccupied in the above ways have a rather limited set of alternatives to consider. It seems to make life simple. Yet, life can become very complicated when an either/or mentality blinds one to the most creative alternatives which transcend the either/or mentality. People who are trapped in an either/or mentality are often unable to learn from their experiences because their experiences entail realities which are too complicated to be understood in either/or.
