We are usually confronted by dilemmas when we are confronted by such disintegrative realities. What are we to do when so confronted? If we become fixated upon, preoccupied with, such disintegrative realities---we join ourselves to them and become yet another disintegrative reality ourselves. It does not help for us to say to ourselves and others that we are trying to eliminate disintegrative realities---just as we are becoming yet another disintegrative reality. Our dishonesty does not help anybody. We do need to recognize disintegrative realities, name them, honestly describe them, and then let go of them. We are fools if we continually hang them around our necks as badges of our superiority---as signs that we are better than they are because we can point to them with pride and arrogance. We need to seek honesty and integrity. We need to recognize, name, honestly describe, and associate ourselves with integrative realities such as integrative: people, ideals, values, roles, visions, hopes, aspirations, principles, assumptions, beliefs and convictions. We need to honestly accentuate the positive; because if we do not we disintegrate. Accentuating the negative leads to disintegration. Honestly accentuating the positive leads to personal and communal integrity. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
