We conceive of the PROOF of our salvation in terms of: feelings, reputation, appearances, affection, self- esteem, perfection, confidence, membership, inclusion, etc. We choose the combination of our WAYS and FOCI in our efforts to achieve salvation in terms of what is central in our conceptions of the PROOF of our salvation; e.g., we may try to manipulate other people's perceptions of us to achieve a desired appearance and reputation of perfection. We thus develop a vocabulary of WAYS, FOCI, and PROOFS pertaining to the salvation we seek; and they are all based upon assumptions, beliefs, attitudes, convictions, etc. which lie hidden behind the web of combinations which we try to use to get into heaven. So long as we do not see the consequences of our assumptions, beliefs, attitudes, convictions, etc. we cannot learn to avoid the tragic consequences which they often lead us towards.
