Such people tend to view other people and themselves within habits of mind and heart which are appropriate to dealing with impersonal objects. Their attitudes block Love's reflexive insights of the heart and soul. Love's reflexive insights are not objective in character, and such insights are excluded from consideration by people who are dedicated to exclusive objectivity as the way to transcend bias. Self sacrifice is not objective behavior and cannot be understood by people who are preoccupied with being objective. Self sacrifice is essential to both personal and communal integrity, but integrative self sacrificial behavior cannot be understood or promoted by objective scholars who are preoccupied with being objective creatures seeking to transcend their own limitations through objectivity. Meditating reflexively upon integrative examples of self sacrifice violates objectivists' taboos and the rules of their collusions regarding their limitations. Compulsively objective people are very limited in what they can understand and do in integrative ways. They are very limited in their ability to perform acts of love because love is an essentially non-objective reality. Objective scholarship cannot deal meaningfully with the integrative nature of acts of love; thus there is essentially no scholarly literature which deals directly with personal and communal integrity. Integrity is not a key word in scholarly analysis because integrity is not an objective reality, and integrity cannot be understood within the paradigm of objective scholars. It is interesting to note that while faith, hope and love abide, and of the three the greatest is love; none of the three realities is an objective reality which can be understood or controlled by people trapped within the prison of their objective paradigm and the non-objective walls which it creates. Their paradigm does not provide them with ways to transcend the collusive walls which their paradigm creates and maintains. Faith, hope and love point the way to escape the prisons of compulsive objectivity without being destructive in the process. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
