Many humans have developed dishonesty as a technique of mutual manipulation in collusive, addictive and codependent behavior. As a technique of manipulation dishonesty manipulates the user as much as others; it is a reflexive tool of mutual manipulation. Dishonesty is not an objective tool of manipulation by which a manipulator can manipulate others without manipulating self. The use of techniques presumes that the technician has a clear goal in mind and can work coherently towards the achievement of the goal. As soon as a technician starts to use dishonesty as a tool of manipulation -- clarity of thought, values, ideals and goals is lost. The technician become the manipulated as much as the manipulator, and there is no integrity in the technological activity; it becomes a disintegrative technocratic process. Addictions, codependence and collusive processes are characteristic of a technocratic society imprisoned in dishonest games of mutual manipulation through the use of dishonesty as a tool. Self honesty is a key to clear thinking. In a collusive community it is dangerous to be honest with yourself about your own experiences and feelings about your experiences, perceptions, desires, beliefs, convictions, etc. Such honesty is bound to be in conflict with the games of mutual self deception which are central to the structure of the collusive community. Clear thinking is not a technical accomplishment; it is the fruit of self honesty which is taboo in a collusive community of reacting addicts and their codependents. Clear thinking is not complicated and sophisticated; it is rooted in simple honesty about experiences, feelings, perceptions, desires, needs, beliefs, etc. It is part of the games of the technocratic society to pretend that clear thinking is a specialty which only trained technocrats are capable of. That is not clear thinking! (c) 2005 by Paul A. Smith in (On Being Yourself, Whole and Healthy) ==========================================================
