The people who are likely to want or be willing to accept such responsibility, authority and power are people who are prone to addictive behavior patterns. Addicts seek to be in control. People who seek to be in control are prone to addictive behavior patterns. Giving such people such responsibility, authority and power does not moderate addictive behavior patterns; it is likely to encourage such patterns of behavior. People who lack self confidence and self esteem are prone to seek guidance from others who appear to be sure of themselves, to know what should be done. Addicts are prone to engage in deceptive behavior; prone to behave with confidence which is not warranted. Insecure codependents are prone to trust pretentious addicts who are willing to accept controlling responsibility, authority and power. They are often partners in a diseased relationship. Such diseased relationships can be seen in the case histories of dictatorships and the citizens who have supported and/or tolerated dictators. Granting people authority, responsibility and power to control other people is dangerous because those who are willing to accept such grants are likely to be addictive people who will behave as addicts behave: deceptively, manipulatively, unreliably, coercively, compulsively, dualistically, etc. Granting such authority, responsibility and power to "trustworthy" people sets the stage for their corruption, and for the transfer of control to others who are not so "trustworthy".
