Such comments tacitly suggest that silence with regard to the topic is proper; and that open discussion is improper. The people who make such comments are embarrassed by the content of the offensive communications, and can not discuss the content of the communications. They seek to repress the discussion of the truths to which the communications point. What motivates the repressive behaviors of people who do not discuss contents of dissenters' communications, but rather take unfavorable note of the expression of embarrassing observations? Such repressive people are embarrassed by the truths which they cannot discuss, for those truths reveal the patterns of the collusive games of mutual self deception which are played by the repressive people. When perceptive people point towards truths which might expose collusive games of mutual self deception, the colluders are embarrassed: for because of their collusive rules they can not discuss the contents of the revealing communications, and they must repress all expressions which threaten their collusions. Thus they subtly violate people's rights of free speech, press, assembly and petition in their efforts to defend their deceptive games of mutual self deception. It is thus important to make efforts to encourage responsible people to discuss the contents of embarrassing communications, rather than to permit people to merely take note of the fact that certain unconventional people are giving voice to embarrassing observations. People do not have a right to avoid embarrassment, or to be protected from embarrassing communications through the repression of embarrassing expressions. People do have the right to give voice to embarrassing communications, so long as they honestly believe them to be pointing to honest truths. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
