Auto-regulation depends upon reflexive behavior which is not objective in character. Reflexive behavior reflects back upon what self has done, thought, felt, decided, desired, viewed self as, etc. In the absence of knowledge about self one cannot make successful decisions relating to self. Success in any venture relates to reflexive behaviors which are not objective behaviors. Upon what principles can successful reflexive behavior be based? Success cannot be based upon a compulsive motivation to be objective under all circumstances, because such a motivation leads to collusive games of mutual self deception regarding the basis of success; i.e., self deception regarding the value of reflexive behavior. When self cannot be honest with self about the reflexive basis for success, then failure lies ahead. The failures may not be recognized because of collusive games of mutual self deception, but they can be real and destroy the players of the game even so. Addiction to and codependence within the myth of objectivity are very dangerous ways to approach life. Those who follow leaders of the myth and objectivity are being lead into ultimate failure, not to ultimate success. Ultimate failure entails ultimate disintegration, not ultimate integration. To avoid ultimate disintegration participants in collusive games of mutual self deception need to reflect upon the nature of their addictions and codependence, to learn from their failures, and to make decisions to act in well informed ways. Well informed decisions must be based upon knowledge of what motivates self and other, as well as upon knowledge of how forces act between impersonal objects. Knowledge of what motivates self and other is not objective knowledge; it is reflexive knowledge of and by the subjects of the knowledge. The myth of objectivity does not reflect upon these simple facts of life, and does not include knowledge of these facts in its process of integration. The myth of objectivity leads to incomplete integration and through uninformed decisions to ultimate disintegration. Complete integration must include an integration of objective knowledge with reflexive knowledge; all within an intellectual framework which recognizes the appropriate roles of each within the whole. Within such an integrated whole there will not be competition among different kinds of knowledge as to which is ultimate. The important roles which each kind of knowledge plays within the organic whole will be recognized and honored. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
