In like manner there are communal realities (?) which are unreal to some members of the community (?). In such a situation it is questionable whether there is "unity" which is the characteristic of a community, and thus the question of unity marks the community (?). Collusions are marked by conflicts between the realities of thinking, questioning, members of the society, and the "truths" of the society which have been created by collusive self deception. The lack of congruity between the realities of the thoughtful members of the society and the realities which are "officially real" is the mark of the lack of integrity in a collusive community (?). When integrity is questionable the "unity" of comm"unity" is questionable and it is questionable whether there is a community in the society. For there to be unity in a community the members must constantly be checking to see if there is congruence between the private realities as known by the members of the community and the official realities which are affirmed by the community. Official realities ten to become institutionalized in static structures which get out of date by not changing within a changing society. The community can disintegrate by virtue of insufficient change in institutions which embody the community's conceptions of communal realities; creating by virtue of insufficient updating a tension between the institutionalized realities and the realities of private lives. Conflict can thus arise through the lack of congruence in change as between private and institutionalized realities. For a community to maintain its integrity it must promote the growth of institutional realities so that they continue to be congruent with private realities. This may be done by institutionalizing a commitment to reconcile conflicts between personal and communal realities; helping members to affirm essential communal realities and helping the community to affirm essential personal realities, with due respect for the fact that each kind is essential to the continued reality of the other.
