Often there is a tendency to associate goodness with spirituality, piety, generalizations, theory, verbalizations, policies, laws, etc.---and evil with sensuality, practicality, specifics, stories, affection, spontaneity, rebellion, matter, etc. Such a dichotomization tends to promote the substitution of formal foci of attention for primitive sensations as foci of attention. Gut feelings, motor sensations, emotional responses, intuitions, instincts, tactile sensations, affective responses, sexual responses, intuitions, instincts, tactile sensations, affective responses, sexual desires and responses, odors, sounds, and tastes and like non-formal foci for attention cease to play a central role in living. They are replaced by formal foci for attention which tend to be communicated through formal languages, symbols, and patterns of representations: words, ideas, concepts, policies, rules, equations, statements, principles, laws, theories, generalizations, etc. The latter are often conveyed through the use of sight---but with little interest in color, texture, line, tone, or other aspects of visual patterns which elicit direct sensory responses. Primitive sensory experiences cease to be foci for attention and dialogue. When primitive experiences are judged to be of secondary value, if not explicitly evil, human integrity is undermined. The resultant fragmentation of human personalities results in frustrations which find violent avenues of expression---often through the ostensible "good" foci of attention which have been substituted for the ostensible "evil" foci of attention. Via collusions the counter-productive nature of the judgments regarding sensuality is not perceived---and the judgments continue to be regarded as righteous by the self-righteous judges who serve their exclusive conceptions of the knowledge of good and evil. Such judges lose touch with reality as they create their peculiar insane world devoid of sensory values. They worship ideal idols and call them good. (c) 2005 by Paul A.
