Many physical systems have a multitude of interactive
elements. Scientists have discovered may descriptive-
rules-of-summary of objective observations which enbymbol
their mutual understnadings of the cause and effect
processes which are present in the interactions of the
elementary participants. To scientists the elementary
participants are primary, and the processes are perceive
as their interactions. When in the objective state of
consciousness, no system of interactive elementary
participants is regarded as having self awareness as an
essential element of its reality.
In the existential life of am authentic man, self
awareness is primary within the context of authentic
meetings (with others and the environment) which lead to
mutual awareness and mutual understanding of self and
others; alike and different. Through an evolution and
historical process, men accumulated more and more elements
of mutual udnerstanding of self and other, and of the
environment. Eventually men became aware of self and
other as systems having a multitute of interactive
elements. Scientists have discovered many descriptive-
rules-of-summary of objective observations which ensymbol
their mutual understandings of the cause and effect
processes which are present within self and other. To
scientists the elements are primary, and the processes
are perceived as their interactions.
When in the rational state of consciousness, the life
of a man is complicated by self-awareness-of-the-system-
of-interacting-elements-of-self-awareness as an essential
element of the whole system. Through such transcendance
the system not only seeks to perpetuate itself, but also
considers its past and its future, and complicates the
processes of cause and effect through anticipations of the
future, and alternatives thereto.
Thus it becomes impossible to predict the future
through the knowledge of cause and effect, because through
prediction and political decisions and actions; the
predictions may be invalidated. On the other hand,
through the thoughtless process of cause and effect, there
may be a fulfilling of trends which are not transcended---
when men do not deal realistically with finitude. Yet,
no complex interactive system can have full control of its
destiny, for there are realities which are outside of the
control of the system. Thus there are occasions for
insight which pertain to hope and meaning, rather than to
maintaining full control of all different personal
relationships with different people --- who are not fully
understood or predictable by any individual or complex
group.
