The sacrifice and suffering which are inevitable aspects of such manipulative efforts are impotent; they do not help anybody transcend the estrangement and alienation which occasioned the use of techniques of personal violence. The techniques of war are of such a character as to compound the dilemmas which the techniques ostensibly are designed to resolve. The weapons used increase the separation, not only of civilian populations from each other; but also the separation between combatants to such an extent that there is no battle field in the literal sense. The degree of estrangement is so great that not even the killer and killed are permitted to be in violent fellowship in their mutual violation of human dignity. War feeds on estrangement and generates estrangement ---because it is dedicated to the fulfillment of the techniques of technocrats incapable of intimate relationships because they disrespect others' intimate relationships. Whom God hath brought together in sexual bonds are torn asunder---so as to generate frustration and anger which in training is first directed at surrogate enemy bodies, and then at similarly manipulated members of the other team in the war game which is manipulated without respect for personhood. At a time when young men might be developing sexual bonds which would serve as a foundation for a secure society, made secure through dialogue and intimate relationships --- at that time military technocrats segregate men and women and pervert the emotional development of the next generation of political leaders. The frustration which is generated serves the purposes of the technocrats quite well, and may be directed by technocrats without respect for real persons. The fragmented men are not permitted to participate in the political decisions which direct their actions and the cessation of their lives, all in the name of the defense of their right to so participate. Love, not war, is the way to resolve the dilemmas which technocrats promise to solve through loveless techniques. If we wish peace---we must love-not war, and learn to make love, not war, our way of life. When technocrats use each other, they make war, not love. Through division---love is conquered, and real persons in fear cease to live. Love casts out fear;so in fear people cast out love. (c) 1999 by Paul A.
