*        NOVICES find texts of essays via the following steps:                 *
*                                                                              *
*    0.  Scroll through a list of words which appear often in essay titles.    *
*                                                                              *
*    1.  Select a word suggestive of topics of interest to you.                *
*                                                                              *
*    2.  Center the word at mid-mini-screen and press  Enter .                 *
*                                                                              *
*    3.  That word will be used to find essays titles containing the word.     *
*                                                                              *
*    4.  Scroll through found titles of essays containing the chosen word.     *
*                                                                              *
*    5.  Center a title of interest at mid-screen and press  Enter .           *
*                                                                              *
*    6.  The text of the corresponding essay will be presented on screen.      *
*                                                                              *
*    7.  All texts written in the same month can then be scrolled-to.          *

*    8.  Press  Esc  to back-up through the above procedure.                   *

*   The NOVICE Menu of the Essays System introduces finding, reading, printing *
*   and copying to disk of the text of  essays  (c) 1997 by  Paul A. Smith.    *
*   When viewing the NOVICE Menu you can pick a word  of interest, by use of   *
*   the key-pad keys around the  5  key.   With  a   word   of interest        *
*   highlighted press  Enter  to see all the TITLES of essays which contain    *
*   words  starting  with  the  first few  letters of your chosen word.        *
*                                                                              *
*   When viewing TITLES containing your chosen word,  use the key-pad keys     *
*   around the  5  to put a title of interest at   ==  mid-screen  ==   and    *
*   press  Enter  to see the TEXT of the   ==  ESSAY  ==.  Note information    *
*   at the bottom of the screen, including    H   for contextual help.         *

*   When viewing TEXT of an essay use the key-pad keys around the  5  key      *
*   to move the text.     You may print all the text of the ESSAY you are      *
*   viewing.  Press the  P  key.     The  D  key will print the text to disk.  *

*   You may share copies of essay texts with friends at up to 2x copying cost. *

*   The Novice Menu presents a simplified version of the SEEWORDS command.     *
*                                                                              *
*   The SEEWORDS command with its full power can be found in the MAIN Menu.    *
*                                                                              *
*   The key to finding texts with SEEWORDS is always search word(s) you pick.  *
*                                                                              *
*   In the NOVICE Menu you can pick only one search word at a time to use.     *
*                                                                              *
*   In the MAIN Menu you may search with up to nine chosen words for titles.   *
*                                                                              *
*   In the MAIN Menu there are many helpful lists of possible search words.    *
*                                                                              *
*   In the Main Menu the JUMP Menu and X-Ray Menu will help you find your way. *
*                                                                              *
*   Remember:  Search-word ====  Titles-Of-Essays ====  Texts-of-Essays        *
*                                                                              *
*   Remember:   Esc  will almost always move you backward through process.     *

*  %KEYWORDS to find what words appear frequently  in essay TITLES.            *
*  %THESARUS to find keywords related to your words which are not keywords.    *
*  %WORDPAIR to find what words appear often with each other in essay TITLES.  *
*  %COUNTWDS to count frequency of words in TITLES containing your words.      *
*                                                                              *
*  %SEEWORDS to find TITLES containing your chosen search keywords.            *
*  %VIEWWORD to execute %SEEWORDS with automatic %COUNTWDS following.          *
*                                                                              *
*  %MISCELLA to execute a variety of batch jobs and any DOS command.           *
*                                                                              *
*   H  to call up help screens like this one.                                  *
*   S  to search for words in MENUS, TITLES, and TEXT.                         *
*   P  to print the text of an essay being viewed.                             *
*   D  to copy to disk the text of an essay when you are viewing its text.     *
*   L  to specify an essay to be printed Later by marking its TITLE.           *
*   /  to toggle between the MAIN Menu and current 2nd Report Menu.            *
*                                                                              *
*  You will have greatly increased flexibility in choice of search words       *
*  once you have graduated from the NOVICE Menu.                               *
