Evil-Resides in Relationships-of-Alienation, and in Alienation-which-Minimizes Relationships-of-Intimacy in Agape-Love. 2. Relationships of Estrangement, Separation, Rejection, Excommunication, Banishment, and Isolation --- Are-Evil-Relationships to the extent that they are NOT Truly-and-Freely Affirmed-Chosen by the Participants- Therein. 3. Evil-CAN-be-Mitigated Only-Through such processes as: Reconciliations, Healings, Integrations, Hospitality, Civility, Honest-Dialogue, Safe-Intimacies, and the Building-and-Maintainance of True-Sanctuaries wherein the Mitigation-of-Evil-Relationships is Normal-in-the-Ways-of- Shalom. 4. Evil-CANNOT-be-Mitigated through: Alienation, Injury, Rejections, Threats, Attacks, Contentiousness, Pretentiousness, Terror, Arrogance, Self-Righteousness, Invulnerability, Attacks, Threatening, Terrorism, Wars, Unilateral-Actions, Domination, Controls, Coercion, Superiority, Power-Concentrations, Wealth-Concentrations, etc. 5. Evil-CANNOT-be-Mitigated while believing that Evil-Can-be-Mitigated through the processes pointed-to just-above and/or while trying to avoid the processes Within-Which Evil-Can-be-Mitigated --- in the Gracious- Ways-of-Shalom. 6. We CANNOT Mitigate-Evil while trying to Avoid- Addressing-Our-Complicity-In-Our-Own-Evil-Relationships. 7. We CANNOT Mitigate-Evil while pretending to be Free-of-Evil-Relationships within our Real-Communities which are Always-Imperfect-Communities; e.g., while pretending to be Superior-to-Evil-People Who-are-Inferior- to-US. 8. We cannot helpfully Mitigate-Evil while conceiving Evil-to-be-an-Essentially-Objective-Reality Apart-from-Our-Own-Evil-Relationships. 9. Evil-as-we-experience-Evil is not Essentially-an- Objective-Reality Apart-from-Our-Own-Evil-Relationships. 10. If we Conceive-Make-Real-Evil as an Essentially- Objective-Reality Apart-from-Our-Own-Evil-Relationships; we are complicit therein by Participating-in-Collusive-Games- of-Mutual-Self-Deception within Our-Own-Evil-Relationships --- as we are Dishonest-with-Ourselves and With-Each- Other. 11. If we perceive Evil Primarily-in-Isolated- Individuals as Isolated-from-Us and so as Residing-in- Isolated-Others --- we are trapped in Our-Collusive-Games- of-Mutual-Self-Deception; we are trapped in our Own-Evil- Relationships which blind us in our complicity within such Alienative-Games. Beware of Any-Way of regarding "Evil" which: 1. Fails to help us understand how we can be and often are --- unknowingly-complicit in generating and maintaining Evil-Relationships which entail: alienation, estrangement, violence, coercion, enforced-separation-and- isolations, disintegrations, confusion, incoherence, dis- honesty, pretense, arrogance, self-righteousness, greed, hoarding, wealth-concentrations, power-concentrations, etc. 2. Fails to helps us understand what we can do to Mitigate-Evil --- in Gracious-Ways which have-been, and can-be, Demonstrated-to-be-Effective. 3. Fails to help us get beyond: (a) Blame-Games, (b) Guilt-Trips, and (c) Projection-Enterprises. 4. Leaves "Evil" an abstract reality about which we can do very little or nothing --- and regarding which we have no-responsibility as cynical-fatalists. 5. Does NOT address in-any-way our-responsibility to: (a) Sympathize and empathize with victims of whatever "Evil" is, (b) Respond to whatever "Evil" is in ways which mitigate whatever "Evil" is, (c) Learn from our tragic mistakes which augment whatever "Evil" is, and (d) Grow in our understanding of What-Augments, and What-Mitigates whatever "Evil" is. 6. Leaves us free to be indifferent-about, cynical- about, and detached-from Our-Own Evil-Relationships. Be Graciously-Together in the Many-Ways-of-Shalom. (c) 2006 by Paul A. Smith in "Search for Honesty and Integrity" (On Being Yourself Whole and Healthy) ==========================================================
