There are major difficulties in trying to communicate any differences in overall perceptions of colors beyond ascertaining the degree of the above two classes of "color-blindness" in not being able to conventionally identify what particular "color" an object itself "has". In addition the perception of the color of any one portion of a surface by a particular person is very strongly influenced by the perceived colors of other parts of the same surface. The perceived color of any one ray of of light as perceived by any particular person cannot be easily attributed to the relative intensities of the component "wave-lengths" of the electromagnetic-radiation" present in the light. As regards visible light the perception of patterns of color varies from individual to individual; and from context to context as regards time, place, and portions of a scene. In addition to the above, the perceptions of three-dimensional aspects of a view can be generated by the wearing of different light-filters places over each of two eyes and can be generated by the presentation of particular patterns of random dots of various perceived colors. The perception of "colors" and "depth" in objective "scenes" is a complex phenomena when health people are awake, conscious and have their eyes open. ===================================================== Differences between different people as regards "visual" perceptions become More-Difficult to ascertain and describe if they are: 1. Not awake, 2. Asleep and dreaming. 3. Awake and "day-dreaming". 4. Having "visions" either awake or while asleep. 5. "Envisioning" a scene to paint. 6. "Envisioning" a scene to describe. 7. "Envisioning" a scene for a movie or video. 8. Remembering or recollecting any past scene. 9. "Envisioning" a future possible scene. 10. "Envisioning" a future impossible scene. 11. Reading present/remembered printed texts. 12. Describing past visual scenes as to details perceived ===================================================== It is More-Difficult to ascertain and accurately describe other differences between different people as regards other sense-organs and experiential-sensations of: A. Ears and the Hearing of the sounds of various tones/frequencies in various combinations at particular moments and over various durations of time - -- as in conversations with one or more people talking in sequence and/or simultaneously --- as in the performances of any one or combination of musical instruments including one or more human voices. B. Noses and taste buds on tongues in perceptions of combined-sensations of taste and/or smell. C. Sensations of touch over various portions of the skin of a person's body. D. Sensations of pain and/or pleasure inside of the body because of relational contexts in physical exercise, sports-activities and sexual-relationships and/or activities. E. Emotional-sensations within the contexts of various inter-personal-relationships with one or more persons over various durations of time. As with visual-sensations; so also with hearing, taste, smell, touch, pleasures, pains, emotions --- as in the dozen comments regarding eyes, seeing, and visual sensations when: awake, asleep, dreaming, envisioning, remembering, etc. There are a multitude of different ways in which different people experience sensations: in person, in remembrance, and in empathy and/or in sympathy. All of the above "differences" play roles in how well and healthy different people can "be-together" in cooperative, collaborative and intimate personal relationships. It can be virtually impossible for people be "be- together" in cooperative, collaborative and intimate personal relationships --- if they do not "feel" free to be open, honest and vulnerable in intimate dialogue and sharing of their different sensations and experiences. Alienation of any form undermines the possibilities of integrations and integrities. Processes of formalization and standardization --- often engender alienation and so undermine the possibilities of integrations and integrities --- of Shalom as The Way of LOVE. (c) 2006 by Paul A. Smith in "Search for Honesty and Integrity" (On Being Yourself Whole and Healthy) ==========================================================
