No partial-reality is worthy of Ultimate-Reverence. No fragmented-reality is worthy of Full-Reverence. No exclusive-virtue is worthy of Full-Reverence. No-exclusive-virtue is worthy of Ultimate-Concern. ------------ A first-step out of idolatry is to acknowledge the presence of some one virtue as being-complementary-to whatever virtue has been regarded as worthy of full, exclusive, or ultimate: concern-or-reverence --- worthy of the sacrifice of all Personal-And-Communal Integrity. Jesus is said to have suggested that where two-or- three (mutually-complementary people, virtues, ideals, values, etc) are Gathered-Together in a Mutually- Complementary-Way; Holy-Spirit would be present with them; and that the ultimate form of sin was "Being-Absent from Holy-Spirit" in blaspheming Mutually-Complementary-Being- Together; e.g., in Blaspheming Holy-Spirit-Present-Within- Mutually-Complementary-Being-Together-With-Empathy. Empathy is a Key-Complementary-Virtue which can serve well as a First-Stepping-Stone out of idolatory; because in the absence of Empathy: 1. Neighbor is a usable/abuseable thing. 2. Neighbor is not understood as Being-Whole. 3. Loving Neighbor makes no practical sense. 4. Loving God makes no practical sense. 5. Neighbor is not understood as a Humane-Being. 6. God is not understood as Humane-Spirit/Presence. 7. True-Sympathy is Most-Likely Not-Present. 8. Rules, laws and commandments Are-Abused-for-Gain. 9. Rules, laws and commandments Are-Alienative-Tools 10. Evil-Relationships grow Without-Limit. In the Absence-of-Empathy: 1. Distributive-Justice is not revered. 2. Hospitality is not revered. 3. Cooperation is not revered. 4. Honesty is not revered. 5. Civility is not revered. 6. Generosity is not revered. 7. Sharing is not revered. 8. Intimacy is not revered. 9. Sanctuaries are not revered. 10. Personal Integrity/Authenticity are not revered. Empathy is a Key-Complementary-Virtue which can serve well as a First-Stepping-Stone out of idolatory. Where two or three True-Lovers are gathered together with Empathy toward each other's True-Needs and True- Emotions --- essential steps away from Idolatry become possible; because True-Lovers empower each other to Let-Go Of: 1. Manipulative dishonesty. 2. Manipulative pretensions. 3. Collusive-Games-of-Mutual-Self-Deception. 4. Profitable-Military-Industrial-Complexes. 5. Alienative-Corporations's Stocks. 6. Addictions and their Codependent-Supporters. 7. Scholarly-Pretensions. 8. Scientists'-Pretensions. 9. Technocratic-Solutions to Tragic-Dilemmas. 10. Alienative-Wealth-Concentrators Are Personal-and-Communal Integrity-and-Integrations possible in the Absence-of-Empathy? If the implications of Empathy are profound, consider the implications of Empathy when it is present within the following Mutually-Complementary-Combinations: Empathic-Honesty? Empathic-Hospitality? Empathic-Reconciliation? Empathic-Forgiveness Empathic-Peacemaking, Empathic-Sharing, Empathic-Distributive-Justice. Next consider the many possible Mutually Complementary pairings of two or three of the following Key-Virtues: 1. Empathy, 2. Honesty, 3. Reconciliation, 4. Forgiveness, 5. Peacemaking, 6. Sharing, 7. Distributive-Justice 8. Hospitality, 9. Civility, 10. Politeness, 11. Cooperation, 12. Collaboration, 13. Listening, 14. Integrity, 15. Authenticity, 16. Coherence.
